COTS Outreach Recovery Coach (PT-Weekends)
Wish to be a COTS Outreach Recovery Coach (PT-Weekends)?The weekend COTS Outreach Recovery Coach provides peer-based recovery support to guests accessing services at the Day station and Way station. This position facilitates recovery meetings, provides one-on-one coaching, supports recovery system navigation, and offers training and consultation to COTS staff. The Recovery Coach also supports overdose prevention efforts and assists staff and guests in accessing harm reduction resources. This is an in-person position and requires some travel within Chittenden County.
The Center is an EOE and encourages individuals in long-term recovery to apply. The ideal candidate is well organized, can manage themselves under pressure, can conform to organizational expectations, and is personable with the population we serve. This is a part time, non-exempt position with a pay range of $21-$23. This position is not eligible for benefit programs. The schedule for this position is Saturday-Sunday, 12:00 PM-8:00PM and reports to the Outreach Program Coordinator.
Support & Coaching
- Provide onsite peer recovery coaching to guests at the Day station (12–5pm) and Way station (5–8pm).
- Guide participants in identifying goals, exploring recovery pathways, and developing wellness plans.
- Support individuals in navigating recovery systems, treatment options, and community resources.
- Facilitate peer-led recovery meetings and groups onsite.
- Ensure meetings are inclusive, recovery-informed, and aligned with program expectations.
- Provide consultation, training, and technical assistance to COTS staff on recovery, harm reduction, boundaries, and engagement.
- Share recovery-informed practices and support staff responding to guest needs.
- Provide guidance and education on overdose prevention and safer-use practices.
- Support distribution of naloxone and other harm reduction materials in collaboration with partners.
- Assist staff in responding to substance-related crises using trauma- and recovery-informed approaches.
- Lived experience with recovery; two years sustained recovery preferred.
- Peer Recovery Coach certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience with harm reduction, motivational interviewing, or trauma-informed care preferred.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis response skills.
- Ability to maintain boundaries and work collaboratively with COTS staff.
- Valid Driver’s License; reliable transportation and current insurance coverage.
- Document coaching interactions in accordance with program standards.
- Maintain communication with TPCCC staff and supervisors to coordinate care and ensure participant safety.
