Role OverviewCandidates for this position will perform a variety of complex accounting and compliance duties essential to the daily operations of the County Clerk/Auditor's office. In this role, you will drive the County's financial management by preparing journal entries, conducting bank and balance sheet reconciliations, modernizing existing accounting procedures, and managing diverse accounts receivable pipelines. You will also play a critical role in the annual budgeting process, oversee key tax matters like 1099s and property tax abatements, and coordinate directly with independent external auditors.
Additionally, you will spearhead comprehensive financial and performance audits across all county departments to ensure strict compliance with state, federal, and internal regulations. To support the broader mission of the office, a successful candidate must also be an adaptable team player willing to cross‑train in external functional areas, including assisting with Clerk and Election duties as needed.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of responsible, relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Specific experience in governmental accounting and a strong working knowledge of the operations and responsibilities of a County Clerk/Auditor's office are highly desired.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and database software.
- Ability to operate a 10‑key calculator accurately by touch.
