Department / Unit SummaryUnder the supervision of a Registered Nurse, perform basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Assist with activities of daily living, routine monitoring, and maintaining a clean, well‑stocked environment; support nursing/physician staff and tech desk operations. Reports to the Director or Manager of the Department.
Essential Functions- Perform basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
- Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
- Keep patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
- Manage the tech desk; support nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
- Document care and activities per unit standards.
- Participate in performance improvement, required education, & perform other duties as assigned.

Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed:
Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record.
Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure:
Occupational exposure may be present for all employees.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive movements, kneeling, lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near/far vision and depth perception are frequent/constant; color distinction is frequent.
Environmental Exposures:
Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases, dust, gases, vapors, fumes, hazardous chemicals/medications; latex exposure is frequent.
- Education:
High School diploma (preferred). - License: SRNA or EMT (preferred).
- Certifications:
BCLS required;
Handle with Care preferred. - Skills:
Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
