Nurse Technician – Full Time, Night Shifts

Department/Unit SummaryNurse Technician Position Summary – Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, perform basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. Assist with activities of daily living, routine monitoring, and maintaining a clean, well‑stocked environment; support nursing/physician staff and tech desk operations. Report to the Director or Manager of the Department.
Essential Functions- Perform basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
- Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
- Keep patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
- Manage the tech desk; support nursing/physician staff and department throughput.
- Document care and activities per unit standards.
- Participate in performance improvement and required education; perform other duties as assigned.
- Populations served:
Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. - Protected Health Information accessed:
Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. - Bloodborne Pathogens exposure:
Occupational exposure may be present for all employees in this role. - Physical requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, reaching, keyboard entry, repetitive movements, kneeling, and lifting/moving patients; occasional sitting and squatting; rare running or climbing. Near/far vision and depth perception are frequent/constant; color distinction is frequent. - Environmental exposures:
Occasional exposure to biohazardous waste, communicable diseases/pathogens, dust, gases/vapors/fumes, and hazardous chemicals/medications; latex exposure is frequent.
- Education: High School diploma preferred.
- License: SRNA or EMT preferred.
- Certifications: BCLS required;
Handle with Care preferred. - Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
