Youth Development Associate / Specialist – Split Mountain Youth Center
Full‑time position. Hourly wage $18.10 – $20.74. In‑office / on‑site at 830 East Main Street, Vernal, Utah.

- Mentor, oversee, and work closely with high‑risk/violent youth offenders.
- Schedule and supervise individual and group activities.
- Write court reports, parole summaries, treatment plans, and supervision standards.
- Assist with teaching pro‑social, academic, and vocational skills.
- Implement specialized treatment plans.
- Co‑facilitate individual, family, or group sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.
- Pass the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days; provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety of staff, clients, and the public.
- Transport youth.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing and speech.
This recruitment will be filled as a Youth Development Associate or Youth Development Specialist, depending on qualifications.
Ideal Youth Development Associate
:
Two years of paid experience with troubled or at‑risk youth or equivalent education; valid Utah driver’s license. Hourly wage $18.10.
Ideal Youth Development Specialist
:
Four years of paid experience with troubled or at‑risk youth or equivalent education; valid Utah driver’s license. Hourly wage $20.74.
Preference may be given to candidates 21 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
Qualifying work experience includes paid work at any JJYS facility, Utah State Hospital, Utah State Developmental Center, private residential youth programs, alternative schools, juvenile probation/parole, law enforcement, correctional officer, or similar programs.
Non‑qualifying work experience includes volunteer or unpaid youth work.
