Overall Purpose of the JobThe Class B Truck Driver with Air Brake endorsement is responsible for driving a Company Vehicle (truck or tractor-trailer combination) with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver oilfield equipment, goods or materials in a liquid, loose or packaged form to / from employer and client sites.
Key Activities And Accountabilities- Follow appropriate federal, state, local and FCC safety procedures and regulations when transporting dangerous goods.
- Perform pre-trip inspection of truck, trailer and/or vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order before using for service. A Pre-trip Inspection Form must be completed accurately when applicable.
- Any items found defective or not working after the pre-trip inspection are to be documented, repaired and/or replaced prior to vehicle being put into service.
- Must maintain accurate and up to date Hours of Service logs for all hours on and off duty and of vehicle/repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
- Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, in order to deliver products or other materials.
- Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions, follow signals from loading/unloading crew as needed, check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading/unloading equipment is properly positioned.
- Secure loads for transport, using rope, blocks, chocks, chains, binders, straps with protective coverings and/or covers as required by federal and state regulations as well as any company requirements.
- Obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered and/or collect payment for services when required.
- Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
- Read bills of lading to determine assignment details.
- Assist in the loading/offloading of material and goods when required.
- Report any vehicle defects, vehicle damages, accidents (vehicle or property damage), and traffic violations in accordance with government and FCC requirements.
- Ensure that company vehicle and property remain clean and environmentally safe at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Valid Class B Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Due to auto insurance requirements, must be at least 21 years of age.
- DOT Medical card or ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen.
