Switchboard Operator Registration Clerk

Vernon Jubilee Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator | Registration Clerk to join their team in Vernon, BC.

Schedule:

Rotating days, evenings and nights in the following shifts: 23:00‑07:00, 23:59‑07:59, 06:00‑14:00, 11:00‑19:00, 15:00‑23:00, 07:00‑15:00, 09:00‑14:00. Days off: rotating.

Work hours range from 0 to 37.5 per week, with shifts available on short notice or pre‑scheduled to cover leaves. Many team members start in casual roles and transition into permanent positions. This position operates the switchboard, public address, and paging systems, accepting and directing calls from a variety of customers according to established policies, standards and procedures; receives and directs patients and visitors; registers patients; responds to and monitors hospital alarms and emergency codes; maintains physician on‑call and vacation lists; and performs a variety of clerical duties related to receiving and registering of patients, identifying bed booking options, and cashier functions.

• A 5‑minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non‑supervised tests not accepted).
• Your resume outlining two year’s recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• A Medical Terminology Certificate.
• A cover letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on‑call, casual work (i.e. days of the week).
