Currently hiring a Senior Financial Accountant for a well-established manufacturing organization based in Vernon, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and contributing to the financial health and operational success of a growing company.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and managing reconciliations related to assets, leases, prepaid expenses, and investments. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities- Reconcile and analyze prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, investments, leases, and capital assets
- Manage and oversee accounting activities related to company assets and leases
- Process acquisitions, disposals, and lease buyout transactions within the accounting system
- Maintain accurate records and listings of owned and leased assets
- Track and support insurance and property tax requirements
- Record and reconcile prepaid transactions
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations related to property taxes, prepaid expenses, and capital assets
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Post accounting entries, maintain financial records, and generate reports
- Analyze financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Compile and maintain organized, audit-ready working papers and documentation
- Respond to inquiries from senior financial leadership regarding capital assets, insurance, and related financial matters
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Perform additional duties as required to support the accounting and finance team
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, or equivalent education considered an asset
- CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program nearing completion considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliations
- Experience with capital assets, leases, prepaid expenses, and month-end processes preferred
- Knowledge of US GAAP would be considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
