Are you an experienced Electrician looking for a unique opportunity to work on a state‑of‑the‑art passenger ropeway system? Okanagan Gondola is seeking a motivated and safety‑focused professional to join our Operations team and support the reliable operation of our gondola's electrical, control, and safety systems.
This role is critical to ensuring the safe and uninterrupted operation of one of British Columbia's newest tourism attractions.
About the RoleReporting to the Operations Manager, the Gondola Lift Maintenance Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving all electrical and control systems associated with the gondola, terminals, towers, and supporting facilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Lift Maintenance team, manufacturers, and contractors to ensure system reliability, regulatory compliance, and guest safety.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on gondola electrical systems
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair motors and drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC control systems, safety circuits and interlocks, sensors and monitoring devices, low‑voltage and communication networks, and emergency backup systems
- Support daily start‑up, shutdown, and operational testing procedures
- Diagnose electrical faults and respond to equipment failures efficiently
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and troubleshooting documentation
- Assist with regulatory inspections, annual maintenance programmes, and commissioning activities
- Support emergency response procedures and lift evacuations when required
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company policies
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and performance
- Red Seal Industrial Electrician or Red Seal Construction Electrician
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, and control systems
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Passenger ropeway, gondola, chairlift, ski lift, or amusement ride experience
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of VFD systems and industrial automation
- Experience with 24‑Volt systems
- Experience with SCADA or monitoring systems
- Fall protection certification
- Standard First Aid certification
- Lockout/Tagout/Tryout training
