Lead Insulator - relocation to Kamploops Job Description

Join a leading mechanical contractor as a Pipe & Duct Insulator, where you'll play a pivotal role in installing mechanical insulation on piping systems, ductwork, and mechanical equipment in commercial and institutional construction environments. Collaborate closely with site supervisors, foremen, and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

• Install insulation on hydronic heating, chilled water, domestic water, and duct systems.
• Apply vapour barriers and sealants.
• Fabricate and install metal jacketing and cladding.
• Read construction drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with other trades to maintain high-quality workmanship standards.

• Red Seal Insulator certification or similar experience.
• 2+ years of experience as a lead hand in mechanical insulation.
• Proficiency in installing insulation on hydronic heating systems, chilled water systems, domestic water piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, insulation schedules, and specifications.
• Physical capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and perform lifting, kneeling, and overhead work.
• Valid BC Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel around BC.

• Fall Protection Certification.
• Confined Space Awareness Training.
• Aerial Work Platform Certification.
• WHMIS Certification.
• Asbestos Awareness Training.
• Occupational First Aid.
• Experience installing firestop systems.
• Experience with acoustic insulation systems.
• Experience with Viewpoint, Spectrum, Procore.
• Experience mentoring apprentices or leading small crews.
• Previous experience on commercial, institutional, healthcare, or large-scale mechanical construction projects.

Work across various sites in BC, averaging about 50 hours a week. Expect 10-hour days when traveling, typically 14/7. Accommodations are supplied when traveling, along with a daily meal allowance. Gain experience with vapour barriers, condensation control, and mechanical insulation systems. Work with materials such as fiberglass, mineral wool, elastomeric foam, calcium silicate, cellular glass, and phenolic foam. Maintain a strong understanding of safe work practices and WorkSafeBC requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon, BC.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Vernon,BC.
