** SUMMARY
* * The Pool Attendant/Cashier is responsible for cash handling, customer service, and the supervision of the aquatic center slides and lazy river. The Turtle Creek Waterpark is open seven days a week from early June to late August. Pool attendants usually work 20-25 hours per week. Shifts will vary based on weather, day of week, time of day and availability of workers.
** DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Job Functions
** 1. Supervises use of Park District slides, lazy river, and sprayground.
2. Assures that all riders meet the requirements to ride the slide.
3. Informs riders at the top of the slides of safety precautions.
4. Instructs slide riders when to begin their ride based on communication with lifeguard at the bottom of the slide.
5. Distributes inner tubes to patrons.
6. Keeps unused inner tubes stored in an orderly manner.
7. Answers questions from patrons about the aquatic center, slides and lazy river.
8. Enforces pool rules and maintains discipline.
9. Verifies residency status for all daily admissions. 10. Responsible for proper handling of cash, assigned bank and cash register operations. 11. Reports to work fifteen minutes before scheduled shift. 12. Handles all telephone calls in a courteous manner. 13. Takes and delivers messages for aquatic staff. 14. Knows all the aquatic center programs and activities and can inform the public of program times and activities on a daily basis.
15. Greets patrons, answers questions and maintains good public relations at all times by being helpful and pleasant. 16. Performs end of shift cash handling procedures and/or closing cash handling procedures as provided in the Cash Handling Procedures Manual. 17. Wears uniform while on duty 18. Allows only employees in the front office. 19. Assists with facility maintenance duties, including picking up trash, stacking chairs, and pulling weeds.
20. Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee manual. 21. Attends required trainings and meetings. 22. Performs other duties assigned.
** SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT
** 1. Maintains a working knowledge of all general agency and departmental-specific safety rules.
2. Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and or moving objects 30 pounds or heavier.
3. Reports any work-related or patron injuries to supervisor promptly.
4. Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings.
5. Corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to supervisor.
** PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
** 1. Must work closely with co-workers and the general public.
2. Experiences ongoing concerns for all safety and liability issues. 3.
May have to work under stressful situations when dealing with people.
** PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
** 1. Lifting is occasional, usually 30 pounds or less. 2. May need to respond to situations quickly and accurately.
** ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
** 1. Will be required to work during various weather conditions, including hot and cool temperatures.
** COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
** a. Must be knowledgeable about aquatic center operations and constantly strive for improvement.
2. Must use good judgment at all times and be aware of immediate surroundings.
3. Must be able to respond to and handle upset patrons in a positive and appropriate manner.
