Position Overview
The Goddard School in Vernon Hills, IL is seeking a reliable, experienced, and nurturing Preschool Classroom Teacher to join our team of teachers. Classroom Teachers are responsible for ensuring compliance with Goddard's industry‑leading Quality Assurance standards, writing and implementing lesson plans based on developmental guidelines, and creating a positive learning environment that fosters a lifelong love of learning.
Job Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote educational success and are aligned with developmental guidelines.
- Plan and execute classroom activities with team members, tailoring individual activities to meet each child's needs, and submit lesson plans for review promptly.
- Build strong home‑school connections by communicating regularly with parents and keeping them informed of their child’s progress.
- Provide a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to engage children in learning across multiple domains.
- Manage classroom dynamics, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
- Encourage creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and blocks.
- Balance teacher‑directed and child‑directed activities to foster independence and exploration.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field; or proof of current enrollment in a relevant credentialing program.
- 1-2 years of previous experience preferred.
- Strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
- Positive attitude and an inherent love for young children.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when handling children and, for Infant and Young Toddler Teachers, ability to lift infants into and out of a crib.
