Middle School, Special Education Teacher, Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
Step into a dynamic role supporting middle school learners as a Special Education Teacher, working with 8th grade students in both co-taught and resource classroom settings. Split your days between two neighboring middle schools, each just a quick drive apart, ensuring you make a significant impact across both campuses. Daily interaction will be with small resource classes of 8-10 students, offering targeted instruction and vital support—ideal for those passionate about fostering academic and social growth.
Key Qualifications &
Experience:
- Active Special Education teaching certification (LBSI or equivalent required)
- Strong background in providing resource support and differentiated instruction, preferably at the middle school level
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a co-teaching environment
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and time management skills
- Commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver co-taught and resource instruction to 8th graders across two local middle schools
- Design and implement individualized support strategies and accommodations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff professional development, and ongoing team collaboration
Work Expectations & Details:
- 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute daily lunch
- Contract runs from August 17, 2026, to May 28, 2027; early orientation opportunity in August if onboarding is complete
- Daily staff hours: 7:20 AM – 2:50 PM (M, T, TH,
F), and 7:20 AM – 3:05 PM on Wednesdays
