Internship Salary Range: $18.00 - $22.00 Hourly An exciting opportunity is available to join Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA), an employee-owned, multi-faceted civil engineering and land surveying company that has built a reputation of civil engineering with a personal approach. We are seeking a Water Resource Intern to join our growing Water Resource team in Vernon Hills, IL.
The Water Resource Intern will report to the Division Director, Intern Coordinators, and HR. The Water Resource Intern will be involved in engineering design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis, AutoCAD drafting, data collection, and field visits. This role is a non-exempt, hourly position.
Responsibilities:- Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm sewer infrastructure and detention design for stormwater management, and green infrastructure analysis and design.
- Assist with floodplain and floodway analysis and stormwater permits.
- Utilize Civil3D software to assist with plan design and drainage exhibit.
- Assist with Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) services.
- Work in a team setting with other team members within all divisions of the company.
- Ensure that the company policies and procedures are practiced during employment.
- Meet assigned project goals and objectives, and ensure accurate and on schedule project completion.

What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc
Education:- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or in a related field.
- Valid driver's license
- Self-starter
- Strong attention to detail
- Detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing high-quality work products.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision and as part of a larger team.
- Self-starting individual with organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A strong work ethic with the desire to learn about firm business and the industry.
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- The ability to clearly and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).
