Financial Controller; CPA

We are a privately held company seeking a Financial Controller who is excited to build, enhance, and lead the finance function in Vernon Hills, IL. We serve a diverse mix of customers across North America through multiple brands and a distributed operations footprint.

• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
• Oversee financial statement preparation, trend analysis, and management reporting that clearly explain business performance.
• Direct core accounting operations: general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Manage and enhance our ERP/accounting systems, including upgrades, integrations, and process improvements.
• Design, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets, reduce risk, and increase efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and coordinate annual audits and tax engagements.
• Develop budget vs. actual reporting, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support planning and growth.
• Mentor, coach, and develop accounting team members, helping them grow their skills and impact.
• Create ad‑hoc financial analyses and dashboards to answer key business questions.
• Partner with senior management on investor materials and other strategic finance initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leading and developing a team.
• Experience in a manufacturing or inventory-driven environment required.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Access, and financial/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with non-finance partners.
• A deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and curious mindset, with a genuine interest in improving processes and tools.
• Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
