The position demands a Sr. Network Engineer in a Production/UAT/DEV role with a working knowledge of Microsoft Clustering/UNIX/LINUX operating systems. The candidate should be proficient in troubleshooting, performance tuning, replication and backup/recovery strategies. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, adapt quickly to a fast-moving client focus, and multitask. Knowledge and expertise in network infrastructure high availability and EMC SAN environment is required.
The individual will support a distributed application for users in multiple locations and should have strong problem‑solving, debugging, and database maintenance skills. The role also requires managing change, testing fixes and enhancements, and adhering to SDLC principles. Responsibilities include QA and production data communication networks, user acceptance testing, quality assurance, performance, and production environments. The position will involve both systems and application responsibilities for large‑scale MSDBs on multiple clustered and non‑clustered Windows, Unix, and Linux platforms.
- Installation, configuration, maintenance, design, and engineering of Local and Wide Area Networks, Data Centers, VOIP Networks, Security Appliances, and Wireless Networks.
- Install, support, and configure Cisco routers and switches, and security solutions.
- Provide ongoing network maintenance, including updates and security patches.
- Monitor, evaluate, and solve potential network performance issues.
- Manage Cisco infrastructure related and other network requests and problems.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
- Evaluate new and existing network technology and assist with planning and designing future network architecture.
- Network monitoring, management, and troubleshooting with tools such as Solar Winds Orion NPM, Netflow Traffic Analyzer, and protocol analyzers.
- Assist/Support other network related tasks/requirements as directed by infrastructure management.
- Ongoing upgrade and maintenance on internal ERP, CRM, and web systems.
- Write scripts to automate tasks to enhance network systems.
- Hands‑on experience with IIS web services, .NET Framework with Visual Studio is a plus.
- On‑call availability to assist with trouble tickets as needed; on‑call responsibilities on a rotational basis, often after normal business hours.
- Minimum 8+ years experience in Network Infrastructure.
- Strong Windows, Linux, and Unix OS skills.
- Experience with dynamic routing protocols (EIGRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP) and familiarity with telecommunications technologies and WAN technologies (frame‑rely, MPLS, leased lines, metro‑Ethernet, DS1/DS3, OC3).
- Experience with network performance monitoring and capacity planning.
- Ability to resolve complex problems through troubleshooting skills and protocol analysis using packet captures.
- VMware and virtualization experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills in fault detection and resolution.
- Strong customer skills; proven leadership skills in cross‑functional teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science;
Microsoft Certifications and CCIE certification preferred.
