QC Group Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a QC Group Lead for our client in Vernon Hills, IL. This is a hands-on leadership role combining bench-level analytical chemistry testing with day-to-day oversight of the Chemistry QC team, ensuring cGMP-compliant, accurate, and audit-ready operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing: Perform routine/complex chemistry analyses; model right-first-time execution and documentation practices.
• Team Leadership: Balance personal testing duties with scheduling, prioritization, and real-time troubleshooting support for analysts.
• Quality Oversight: Review data/records for accuracy and compliance before QA review; uphold documentation standards.
• Investigations: Lead/support OOS, OOT, and deviation investigations; assist with CAPA implementation.
• Training: Mentor analysts on methods, documentation, and quality standards; support onboarding.
• Audit Support: Prepare documentation and serve as chemistry liaison during internal, client, and regulatory audits.
• Process Improvement: Identify workflow gaps and partner with QC, QA, and Operations on improvements.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
• 5–10 years of cGMP lab experience
• Proven ability to blend bench work with informal leadership
• Experience with OOS/deviation/CAPA processes
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in MS Office
