Construction Safety Manager

Location:

Vernon, TX

Duration: 3+ Months (Start: 8/3)

Type: 1099 Contractor

Pay Rate: $60/hr (Local) | $52/hr (Non-Local)

Per Diem: $125/Day (7 Days Per Week for Non-Local Candidates)

Completion Bonus: $150/month

Pay Frequency:

Schedule:

Monday-Saturday | 12-Hour Days 60+hours/WK

Join a structural steel contractor supporting the construction of a large-scale data center in Vernon, TX. This role provides hands‑on safety leadership for structural steel erection and ironworker activities, ensuring work is performed safely while supporting an aggressive construction schedule in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.

The Construction Safety Manager will work closely with ironworkers, crane operators, and project leadership to oversee structural framing, steel erection, rigging, bolting, welding, and elevated work while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and project safety standards.

Required Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification
  • OSHA 510 Certification
  • Structural steel safety oversight experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Data center construction experience
  • Critical lift and crane operation experience
  • Fall Protection Competent Person training
  • Rigging or Signal Person qualification
  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Oversee daily safety activities for structural steel erection operations
  • Maintain a highly visible field presence alongside ironworkers and project supervision
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments
  • Monitor installation of structural framing, bracing systems, and miscellaneous steel
  • Support field bolting, welding, and structural connection activities
  • Monitor crane operations, rigging, hoisting, and material placement
  • Verify proper alignment, plumbing, leveling, and temporary stabilization of structural steel members
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, OSHA Subpart R, and project safety requirements
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), lift plans, permits, and pre‑task plans
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records
  • Partner with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the project

The ideal candidate is a highly visible, field-focused safety professional with extensive structural steel construction experience who can effectively support ironworkers, crane operators, and project leadership while proactively identifying hazards and maintaining compliance.

Success in this role requires the ability to manage the risks associated with steel erection, elevated work, crane operations, and rigging while adapting work planning to changing environmental conditions such as heat restrictions and maintaining productivity without compromising safety.

Salary: $52 - $60 per hour
