Life Skills Paraprofessional

Purpose:

Assist the Life Skills teacher in providing instructional support and personal care to students with disabilities. Help create a positive, structured learning environment that supports student growth, independence, and success.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must meet requirements for Educational Aide certification
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred
• Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist the teacher with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide instructional support in small group and one-on-one settings
• Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
• Assist students with daily living skills, including personal care if needed
• Support students during transitions, including arrival, dismissal, and movement throughout campus
• Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources as directed
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

May involve lifting, positioning, or assisting students with mobility Work in a classroom setting with students who may have varying physical and behavioral needs
