Responsibilities

The Registered Therapist III (Registered Therapist Supervisor) performs highly complex therapeutic rehabilitation activities and provides direct supervision and training for therapy technicians and other registered therapists. Key duties include:

  • Coordinate therapeutic rehabilitation activities and therapy groups for individuals.
  • Provide and/or direct skilled therapy to individuals.
  • Monitor and audit documentation completed by direct reports regarding attendance and response to treatment.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and activities assigned.
  • Assist in planning and developing in‑service training programs.
  • Collaborate with departmental and hospital leadership to develop and improve programming through performance improvement activities.
  • Work under limited supervision with significant latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including disaster response, recovery, or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may require alternate shift patterns or locations.
  • Potential for additional pay when working on maximum security locations.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Attend work regularly, following any required shift schedule, rotating schedule, extended shift, or overtime per agency leave policy.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate discipline‑specific therapy and activities.
  • Provide consultation and collaborate with departments, units, recovery teams, and administration to establish active rehabilitation goals based on recovery needs.
  • Perform therapy assessments; formulate and develop goals and objectives; monitor and audit documentation entered by direct reports.
  • Implement person‑centered, trauma‑informed care.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate rehabilitation technicians and registered therapists.
  • Establish and maintain professional competencies through Continuing Education relevant to credentialed discipline.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, policy revisions, outcome measure development, environmental improvements, and compliance with The Joint Commission, Medicare/Medicaid, and HHSC standards.
  • Support facility and agency safety, risk management, and infection control, implementing and monitoring health, safety, and infection control measures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including disaster response or COOP activation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation therapy principles and techniques for various patient populations.
  • Knowledge of discipline‑specific therapeutic modalities in the recovery process.
  • Knowledge of implementation and documentation of individualized care and recovery plans.
  • Knowledge of approved methods of facilitating and interacting with individuals.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and infection control.
  • Knowledge of performance and quality improvement activities or techniques.
  • Skills in the use of rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment, materials, and tools.
  • Skills in evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation of patient progress.
  • Skills in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Skills in operating computers and applicable software.
  • Skills in effective communication.
  • Skills in supervising multiple employees.
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement, facilitate, and administer treatment‑focused therapy groups.
