HSCS is comprised of nine psychiatric hospitals, one youth residential treatment facility, and thirteen state‑supported living centers. The psychiatric hospitals are a hub of excellence for forensic mental health and complex psychiatric care, with all facilities accredited by The Joint Commission. Job Functions (EJFs)
- Attend work on a regular basis and may be asked to work specific shift, rotating, extended shift, or overtime in accordance with the agency leave policy.
- Assure quality rehabilitation programming is provided to patients daily to promote a successful return to the community. This includes assisting the Director of Rehabilitation and the Assistant Director in screening applicants, interviewing and onboarding qualified Rehabilitation Technicians, and facilitating instructional therapeutic activities such as interactive games, fitness and exercise, swimming, sports, creative crafts, and team building.
- Provide instruction to patients in self‑care, independent living, and character building, including self‑control, ethics, trustworthiness, integrity, fairness, honesty, responsibility, confidence, respect, citizenship, perseverance, and tolerance. Teach patients independent living skills and self‑care (e.g., decision making, career planning, finances, maintenance, general health, hygiene, etiquette, and manners).
- Maintain relationships with local colleges and community resources to schedule visits, guest speakers, and educational activities for clients.
- Observe patients during scheduled programming and document their behavior and level of participation in progress notes.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of patient needs by observing behaviors and identifying therapeutic activities that meet those needs. Implement workshops and groups on relevant topics.
- Assist the Assistant Director in training Rehabilitation Therapy Technicians, providing guidance as needed.
- Operate a state vehicle and transport patients, ensuring timely van reservations, thorough vehicle checks, seat‑belt use, and completion of required driving logs.
