Your Specific Responsibilities

This position is an entry level position. Responsible and technically varied position performing a variety of complex or technical duties for Vital Statistics and the Business Office. Independent judgement, adherence and compliance to applicable Florida Statues and initiative are exercised to develop specialized work methods and procedures. The individual will perform multiple tasks, including Deputy Registrar in Vital Statistics to include assisting clients with issuing birth and death records.

The individual will also be responsible for performing back up duties for daily deposits, reconciliations, mail logs, take deposits to the bank, journal entries, and other related areas of the Business Office. Ensuring generally accepted accounting principles are met.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully under a variety of conditions.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment
  • Accounting/bookkeeping knowledge.
  • Cash handling knowledge
  • Ability to work with standard office software such as email, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Skill in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to plan, organize work activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and other Department business units to meet Departmental performance goals.
  • Ability to review materials for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to verify data on electronic files.
  • Knowledge of alphabetical and numerical filing.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Qualifications Minimum
  • One-year customer service experience
  • One-year cash handling experience
  • Standard office software experience, including excel spreadsheets.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Ability to work 8AM – 5PM, Monday
    - Friday. This position requires daily in-office or field work.
  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  • This position requires current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Department of Health is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship.
