Senior Traffic Engineer (Temporary)

Zing Recruiting is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer (Temporary) to join their team in Vero Beach, FL! This is a temporary full-time role offering the opportunity to work on critical transportation projects, traffic operations, and safety improvements across the local roadway network.

Pay: $60–$85/hour (W-2)

Schedule: Temporary full-time; may require after‑hours/on‑call coverage for incidents, storm response, or construction/activation windows

• Assist the Traffic Engineer in technical oversight and recommendations for capital improvements, traffic safety, and roadway operations.
• Supervise, evaluate, and manage work of analysts and technicians.
• Review Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), traffic methodologies, and development/concurrency plans for compliance with local codes.
• Analyze traffic volume, crash data, and operations to recommend operational and safety improvements.
• Participate in the design and review of traffic signals, roadway signing/markings, and temporary traffic control plans; provide comments for FDOT projects.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and local/state agencies on traffic signals, roadway lighting, and ITS systems.
• Support traffic signal timing, operations, and maintenance, including Synchro optimization and ATMS/central signal control.
• Respond to emergency events, storm conditions, and post‑construction activation needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) or closely related field.
• Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain through comity within 6 months).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering, operations, and transportation planning.
• Proficiency in Synchro signal timing, traffic control devices, MUTCD/FDOT standards, GIS (Arc Map/ArcGIS Pro), and ITS systems.
• Strong supervisory, technical writing, and communication skills.
• PTOE, RSP1, or FDOT TTC Advanced certifications preferred.

• Work on high‑visibility public infrastructure projects in Vero Beach, FL
• Temporary senior‑level role with competitive hourly rate ($60–$85/hr W-2)

• Exposure to advanced traffic engineering systems, ITS, and traffic safety programs
