Role Description

We are seeking a customer-focused Business Technology Specialist to provide responsive, practical technology support to our clients. In this role, you will troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and application issues remotely and on-site, helping users stay productive and ensuring their technology operates reliably.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical fundamentals with excellent communication, documentation, organization, and customer service skills. You should be comfortable managing multiple requests, explaining technical concepts in plain language, and working both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond courteously and promptly to support requests received by telephone and email.
  • Diagnose and resolve end-user hardware, software, application, connectivity, and peripheral issues.
  • Provide remote and on-site support for Windows desktops, laptops, applications, printers, and related equipment.
  • Drive to client locations and safely transport the computers, tools, and other equipment required for on-site service.
  • Accurately document each service request, including client and contact information, reported issue, troubleshooting performed, time spent, billable activity, actions taken, and final resolution.
  • Prioritize and schedule service requests based on urgency and business impact.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues when appropriate.
  • Use diagnostic utilities, remote-support platforms, ticketing systems, knowledge bases, and vendor resources to identify and resolve problems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade software, hardware, operating systems, and business applications.
  • Configure systems, applications, user accounts, file backups, and related services.
  • Assist with designing network systems that meet clients’ operational and technical needs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Research software updates, drivers, technical documentation, and other resources needed for problem resolution.
  • Learn and support the hardware, software, and services used by the organization and its clients.
  • Test completed work to confirm that issues have been fully resolved.
  • Follow up with clients after resolution to verify satisfaction and system performance.
Education and Experience
  • Degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience providing desktop, help-desk, or technical support is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of current business technology and industry trends.
  • Foundational knowledge of Windows PC hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications and services, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, One Drive, and SharePoint, as well as Quick Books.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and services, including VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and NAT.
  • Familiarity with PC diagnostic and troubleshooting utilities.
  • Experience administering Active Directory in a Windows domain environment.
  • Experience supporting Apple macOS is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and time-management skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information in clear, user-friendly language.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
