POSITION SUMMARY

Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic is seeking a senior-level Finance professional to oversee the Finance Department of a non-profit outpatient clinic. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong work ethic, able to pivot in a fast-paced environment, comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion, and experienced in successfully supervising staff and interacting with clients.

This position participates as a member of the Leadership Team and works closely with the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. Experience in a non-profit and/or healthcare industry preferred.

The CFO is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic, including accounting management, billing and revenue cycle management, financial reporting and analysis, compliance and internal financial controls, and reconciliation. This role ensures accurate daily posting, monthly accounting close, EMR integration, cashflow management, financial reporting, and audit readiness. The CFO provides leadership, structure, and analytical support and collaborates closely with clinical, administrative, and executive leadership.

Job Responsibilities
  • Participate as a member of the Leadership Team to provide input into the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Attend monthly meetings of the Finance/Investment Committee of the Board of Directors; prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Assist Executive Director with strategic planning and annual budgeting for the organization.
  • Oversee and maintain organizational adherence to approved budgets.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for annual audits and financial reviews.
  • Train and supervise Finance Assistant and ensure proper distribution of responsibilities; conduct regular performance evaluations and workflow reviews.
  • Oversee all daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities.
  • Maintain and manage cashflow forecasting.
  • Prepare payroll in coordination with HR department.
  • Oversee finance activities related to external claims platform; collaborate with Insurance Processing team on insurance billing, claims processing, and revenue management.
  • Ensure accurate monthly billing dashboards using automated templates.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; prepare financial reports required for grant reporting.
  • Maintain internal controls, documentation standards, and SOPs; ensure integrity of data and reports.
  • Assure compliance with nonprofit accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director on process improvements and automation.
  • Provide financial support to Development office for fundraising purposes; prepare monthly billing and backup documentation for grant reimbursements.
Other Duties
  • Assist front office or operations staff when needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all clinical and patient information as guided by the standards and ethics of practice and of HIPAA.
  • Comply with all clinic policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial, accounting, or healthcare revenue cycle management.
  • Proficiency in Quick Books, EMR and/or CDM systems, and advanced Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to reconcile complex datasets across systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret financial reports and explain implications to leadership.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing preferred.
