Identify and implement improvements that lead to reduction in manufacturing waste and improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost in line with company goals and objectives. Research and resolve manufacturing problems. Compose and prepare various analyses, estimations, and cost justifications relative to all functions within Industrial Engineering. Mentor and assist in the development of other industrial engineers as well as training and coaching other company teams in lean manufacturing.
EssentialJob Functions
- Promote and apply lean tools (5S, Kaizen, 7 wastes, value stream mapping).
- Train and coach company staff in lean tools and implementation.
- Participate and facilitate Kaizen events and train others on how to facilitate events.
- Measure lean implementation results with data-supported metrics.
- Establish production takt times for assembly areas and create production schedules.
- Calculate production manpower requirements, validate system-generated manpower data and present to management.
- Optimize work sequencing and workflow through machines/work centers.
- Create standard manufacturing procedures for critical and high-skill operations.
- Conduct workflow, capacity, quantitative, and throughput analyses.
- Establish time study process & data analysis methods for determination of labor hour standards.
- Establish and maintain AutoCAD drawing standards and guidelines for facility layouts.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Sketch Up for layouts, line flow and facility models.
- Coordinate implementation of approved facility changes with manufacturing, facilities, production control, quality assurance, and management.
- Prepare drawings indicating flow of people, materials and information.
- Independently execute and promote problem-solving techniques that identify root causes and effective solutions.
- Utilize data analysis to make decisions changing production methods to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage production readiness, launches, and installations of new equipment, processes, or products.
- Provide ROI calculations and cost justifications for capital expenditures.
- Train other Industrial Engineers on essential job functions to prepare them for increased responsibilities and project demands.
- Interface with production operators, middle and upper management, and vendors.
- Keep abreast of latest technologies in Industrial Engineering.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Education and ExperienceA Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering required, and seven years industry experience, preferably in aircraft manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer-aided design (CAD), Microsoft Project and Office literacy are required to perform the duties of this position.
Language SkillsThe employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
