Summary
We have an immediate opening for Asphalt Plant Groundsman in Vero Beach, FL. The Asphalt Plant Groundsman supports the daily operations of the asphalt plant by performing general labor tasks, routine maintenance, and housekeeping duties to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. This role is essential in assisting plant operators and maintenance staff to keep operations running smoothly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform general housekeeping and grounds maintenance around the plant, including sweeping, shoveling, raking, and cleaning up debris.
- Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment as directed.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of material stockpiles, walkways, and work areas to ensure safe operations.
- Operate small tools and light equipment as needed.
- Assist with loading/unloading materials and supplies.
- Follow all company and OSHA safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or operational concerns to the Plant Foreman or Plant Manager immediately.
- Provide general labor support to plant operators and mechanics as required.
- Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
- Previous experience in a construction, asphalt, or industrial environment preferred but not required; willing to train.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and around heavy equipment.
- Physically able to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Commitment to workplace safety and following established safety protocols.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from supervisors.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
- Subject to drug and physical test and background check.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50–75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on plant schedule.
