Red Stick Golf Club in Vero Beach, Florida, is seeking a motivated Assistant Superintendent to join its team. This private 18-hole Rees Jones designed course, opened in 2000 and operates seasonally from mid-October through mid-May. The club sits on 330 acres featuring lakes, wetlands, native sand areas, and protected Scrub Jay habitats.

The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent in managing all aspects of the golf course and facility grounds. Beginning in February, the role will also be heavily involved in a full-course re-grassing and renovation project that includes new irrigation, drainage, greens, and bunker construction.

Club Highlights:

    • Monday–Thursday: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Friday: 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    • Saturday: 4:30 AM – 9:30 AM
    • Sunday: 5:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Initial Priorities of the Position:
  • Assist in overseeing drainage installation during the golf course renovation
  • Work closely with the Superintendent, Senior Assistant, contractors, and consultants to ensure project details are executed correctly
  • Actively participate in growing and establishment of all playing surfaces
Key Responsibilities , Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude:
  • Assist the Superintendent in managing all aspects of golf course maintenance and facility grounds
  • Daily supervision of agronomy staff including irrigation technicians, spray technicians, and seasonal employees
  • Conduct staff meetings and clearly communicate daily goals and priorities
  • Train staff on equipment operation, safety, and standard operating procedures
  • Assist with routine agronomic practices including mowing, moisture management, calibration, and chemical applications
  • Monitor plant health and course conditions; communicate findings and recommendations to the Superintendent
  • Maintain accurate records for chemical and fertilizer applications, rainfall, and inventory
  • Help oversee and coordinate contracted work on property
  • Participate in meetings with vendors, consultants, and contractors
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Entry‑level to 1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience
  • Certificate or Associate Degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or related field (preferred, not required)
  • Equivalent experience may offset formal education
  • Willingness to pursue continued education and professional development
  • Ability to obtain a Florida Pesticide License within 3 months of employment
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Leadership potential and desire for long‑term career growth
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 (commensurate with experience)
