Utilities Service Worker – Water Distribution
Performs a variety of activities in the maintenance, construction, and repair of utility mains and facilities. This is a semiskilled position, working under the direct supervision of an immediate supervisor and crew leader.
Responsibilities- Performs repairs to water distribution systems
- Installs and maintains service lines
- Operates a variety of trucks and equipment
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools
- Responds to after-hours calls when serving on-call
- High School Diploma or GED (no experience required)
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- On-the-job training provided to obtain required licenses
- Must possess, or obtain within 6 months of hire, a valid Florida Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)
- Must obtain, within 18 months of hire, a valid Florida Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Must obtain, within 18 months of hire, a Florida Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License
- Overtime opportunities available
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting
- Knowledge of the construction and repair of utility facilities
- Knowledge of water and sewer systems
- Ability to work from sketches, maps, and blueprints
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Good physical ability, including strength for heavy lifting and carrying, and the ability to work under adverse weather conditions
- Ability to operate various types of power tools and equipment used to install, maintain, or repair utility mains and services
- Ability to work on-call
