Job Details
The Maintenance Technician – Projects & Facilities is responsible for completing renovation, repair, and capital improvement projects across corporate facilities, campus housing, flight line buildings, athletic facilities, and campus grounds. This position is ideal for a hands‑on professional who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, enjoys solving problems, and has a genuine passion for carpentry and building improvement.
The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team to complete projects that enhance the appearance, functionality, and safety of campus facilities while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Complete facility improvement and renovation projects in corporate buildings, campus housing, flight line facilities, athletic areas, and campus grounds.
- Perform skilled carpentry work including framing, trim installation, cabinetry, doors, windows, shelving, drywall repair, and finish work.
- Prepare surfaces and complete interior and exterior painting projects.
- Perform drywall installation, patching, finishing, texturing, and repairs.
- Assist with capital improvement (Capital Projects) by completing assigned construction, remodeling, and renovation tasks.
- Renovate and maintain campus housing units, including repairs, upgrades, and turnover projects.
- Repair and improve athletic facilities, including sports courts, fencing, seating areas, and related amenities.
- Perform light electrical work such as replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, lighting, and other minor electrical repairs in accordance with applicable codes and qualifications.
- Complete basic plumbing and general maintenance repairs as needed.
- Install, repair, and replace flooring, ceiling systems, doors, hardware, and building finishes.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, and project specifications.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout each project.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and emergency repairs as assigned.
- Coordinate with Facilities staff, contractors, and other departments to ensure successful project completion.
- Follow all safety procedures, building codes, and organizational policies.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in building maintenance, construction, remodeling, or a related skilled trade.
- Strong carpentry skills with experience in finish carpentry, repairs, and renovation work.
- Experience with painting, drywall finishing, flooring, and general construction.
- Working knowledge of light electrical and basic plumbing repairs.
- Ability to safely operate power tools, ladders, lifts, and construction equipment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience working in educational, corporate, aviation, or campus environments.
- Experience with campus housing renovations or commercial remodeling.
- Knowledge of ADA requirements, building codes, and construction best practices.
- Experience supporting capital improvement projects.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders, work from lifts, kneel, crawl, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
