Working under general supervision of a Foreman or Manager, we operate various size dump trucks and agricultural tractors pulling full and/or half batwing mower decks or other articulated mower decks, excluding boom mowers. We also operate zero turn mowers and walk‑behind mowers.
Responsibilities- Operate assigned equipment necessary to maintain vegetation within County road right‑of‑ways, stormwater retention ponds, and other areas that require mowing/maintenance within the County.
- Operate equipment necessary to sweep roadway shoulders and bike lanes with a tractor‑mounted sweeper.
- Operate various types of compaction equipment necessary to compact different types of material including asphalt.
- Operate various size dump trucks to haul different types of material to and from various maintenance projects.
- Wash and clean assigned equipment as directed by supervisors.
- Perform routine maintenance as needed on assigned equipment.
- Be required to work during a declared emergency.
High school graduate or GED and three years of working experience operating various types of mowing equipment and dump trucks.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations- Candidate must possess a valid Florida Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) at time of hire.
- Knowledge of the safe operation and capabilities of various types of mowing and construction equipment.
- Knowledge of the operating principles and maintenance needs of various types of mowing and construction equipment.
- Knowledge of highway safety rules and regulations necessary to operate various types of mowing equipment along active roadways.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to move heavy objects and endure strenuous laboring tasks under varying weather conditions.
Work is performed outside under various types of weather conditions.
