Position:Utility Pipe Layer
The Utility Pipe Layer is responsible for installing, aligning, and inspecting underground utilities such as water mains, sewer lines, storm drains, and other piping systems.
Responsibilities- Prepare trenches and lay pipe to grade.
- Ensure proper connections that meet safety and project specifications.
- Assist with maintaining machines and equipment.
- Help in cleanup of the job site.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Foreman or management.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record;
Class A CDL strongly desired. - High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Able to lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends.
- Tolerance for variable weather conditions and dirty, dusty environments.
- Member of a local laborer union or willingness to become a union member (union membership not required prior to employment).
- 3–5 years of road construction laborer experience preferred.
- Minimum 6 months experience in assembling and installing sanitary sewer pipe and manholes, water main, and storm sewer pipe and manholes.
- Knowledge of confined spaces, OSHA trenching, and sloping preferred.
