Pay Range: $85,000 - $115,000/year+ based on experience
Position SummarySeeking a Machine Design Engineer to lead the design and development of custom automation and special-purpose machinery. This role will be involved in all phases of a project, from concept development and customer requirements through detailed design, project execution, and installation support. The ideal candidate will have strong machine design experience, Autodesk Inventor proficiency, and the ability to lead projects while collaborating with customers, vendors, controls engineers, and fabrication teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design custom automation equipment and special-purpose machinery using Autodesk Inventor.
- Create 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
- Manage projects from concept through design, fabrication, and installation.
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, controls engineers, and shop personnel.
- Review designs, delegate work, and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Support design reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Strong understanding of machine design fundamentals.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and cost-conscious design practices.
- Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and motion control systems.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic AutoCAD.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience designing custom automation, machinery, or capital equipment.
- Training or experience with Inventor or Solid Works.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
- Hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, field service, or machine startup experience.
