Controls Engineer

Wegner CPAs is proud to partner with our client in the greater Madison area on their search for a Controls Engineer.

You will help create, review, and test machine code that will make automated systems function for manufacturing cells. You will need to work side by side with mechanical, manufacturing, electrical and assembly to make sure your code functions with the rest of the system. You will need to understand how to make systems work in the real world and be an active test engineer as well.

When questions come up you help solve them. When things get confusing you help clear the path. When something works you learn why. When something does not you help fix it and move forward.

A typical week looks like this:

• Design flow charts covering normal operation and error handling.
• Review and write code to make sure it both functions before being run on the machine
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical to make sure hardware and software synchronize well
• Test the machines to make sure the machine meets requirements

• 1-2 years' experience programming using ladder logic or structured text
• Experience using Git version control
• Degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field
• An understanding of how to define and test technical requirements
• Comfortable working around machines, tools, and shop environments
• Curiosity, ownership, and pride in work that runs in production

• Experience with QML or Azure
• Familiarity with common electromechanical systems
• TIA Portal or RSlogix experience
• Hands-on testing experience
• Time spent around automation, robotics or industrial equipment
