The Title
Ingredient Prep. Team Member, Level 1
The RoleIngredient Preparation team members are responsible for effectively working with their team to follow daily work instructions. The Ingredient Prep Department prepares and delivers ingredients for the batching department. Team members handle food ingredients, follow recipes, document traceability, operate washing, chopping, pumping and mixing equipment, while following food quality and safety standards to ensure the safe and timely production of healthy food.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Assist in setting up the Ingredient Prep. and Batching areas
- Prepare raw materials for processing, including de-casing, inspecting, washing, size reducing and portioning
- Label and stage raw materials for downstream processes
- Safely operate process equipment with supervision including wash tanks, product conveyors, drum/tote unloaders, size reduction equipment, pumps, buggy dumpers and mixing systems
- Assist with general sanitation activities, including breakdown of equipment following product changeovers and at shift end
- Work as part of a team to ensure timely and efficient production
- Prepare and review documentation required for food safety, quality, and production tracking activities
- Adhere to and demonstrate all safety guidelines (personal and food safety) and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Abide by policies and procedures that support the service mindset
- Manage timeline expectations within and across teams, delivering responsibilities accordingly
- Earn the trust of Team Members and Managers by consistently embracing CAVA’s values
- Show discipline in bringing consistent performance, communication, and attitude to the job each day
- Actively contribute to department tasks to meet company goals
- Recognize the emotional stake each Team Member has in the personal and organizational success of the business
- Food handling and/or food processing experience preferred
- Must be able to begin work between 5am and 6am and work up to 11 hours per day
- Must demonstrate proper clock management and maintain strong attendance
- Must maintain close concentration and visual attention to assigned tasks
- Must be willing and able to follow instructions
- Must have good verbal communication skills
- Must be willing and able to work efficiently and with alacrity
- Must have familiarity with smart phones, tablets, and email
- Physical dexterity; lift up to 45 lbs and push/pull rolling carts and containers
- Ability to work in varied environmental conditions (dry, cold)
- Ability to stand for 8-10 hours a day
- Must be able to identify, assess and observe detail
- Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively
- Ability to squat, kneel, bend and twist
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety
We prepare products with milk and sesame containing ingredients. Team members must be able to work with these ingredients.
