The Dane County Department of Human Services (DCDHS) – Badger Prairie Health Care Center (BPHCC) is currently recruiting for Registered Nurses (RNs). BPHCC currently has various part‑time positions and one full‑time PM shift position.

The eligible list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within the next six (6) months.

Definition

This position is located in the Badger Prairie Health Care Center. Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Manager, incumbents in this classification perform skilled nursing services within the scope of the Registered Nurse License. They coordinate and provide resident care, lead nursing staff, collaborate with inter‑disciplinary teams, and perform other related work as required.

Examples of Duties
  • Identify resident care needs and develop and implement the plan of care.
  • Record resident information in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare and administer medication and perform prescribed nursing treatments.
  • Complete resident assessments and observe and record residents’ responses.
  • Coordinate shift duties with charge nurse, Clinical Care Coordinator, and/or Nurse Manager.
  • Communicate and coordinate implementation of the care plan.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to facilitate and evaluate resident care.
  • Monitor CNA performance to ensure completeness and adherence to the plan of care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident personal health information and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Assume charge nurse functions, including scheduling.
  • Provide care for residents who have infectious pathogens.
Education, Training and Experience

Applicants must possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Certifications / Licenses

Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse and legally able to practice in the State of Wisconsin. Must also be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Special Requirements

Must have a valid driver’s license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or an equivalent. Must have a telephone. No previous criminal convictions for abuse, mistreatment, or neglect of others. Must be free of clinically apparent communicable disease. Refer to other special requirements noted in the “Physical and Environmental Work Requirements” section below.

Background Check Statement

Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job’s responsibilities. Wisconsin’s Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 – 111.395, Wis.
