Farm Sanctuary Animal Care Provider

Castaway Animals Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) Farm Sanctuary is looking for an Animal Care Technician / Farm Hand to join our lifesaving team.

• Mixing feeds, feeding and caring for small and large animals.
• Cleaning barn stalls, paddocks, water troughs, coops, runs, yards, litter boxes and dishes.
• Handling horses, cows, pigs, goats, poultry and other animals using positive reinforcement/force free handling/training methods as instructed.
• Administer oral, topical and injectable medications to animals as instructed.
• Provide care to special needs animals, includes hand feeding, bottle feeding etc.
• Enrichment activities, brushing, bathing, grooming, cooperative training, filling treat balls, sorting and feeding vegetables.
• Sweep floors, wash fold and put away laundry, wash dishes, sort and put away supplies.
• Loading and unloading 50 pound bags of feed.
• Drive work cargo van to pick up or drop off animals or supplies/feed as instructed.
• Maintain an organized and clean work environment.

• Must be kind and compassionate towards all types of animals.
• Should live within 30 miles proximity of the Farm Sanctuary location Aurora MO.
• Requires the ability to work 5 days a week up to 30 hours weekly on a set schedule.
• Must be available to work on a set schedule.
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver license.
• Must show up to work as scheduled and on time.
• Must enjoy working outdoors. Must not be afraid to be in nature and around wildlife such as rodents, snakes or bugs/spiders.
• Requires the ability to do physical labor walking, lifting, bending, shoveling and general yard work outdoors.
• Requires the ability to regularly lift 50 pound bags to load and unload feed and other supplies weekly.
• Must have good communication skills to keep supervisors informed on animal health or concerns.
• Requires the ability to understand both verbal and written instructions and carry out those instructions.
• Must be dependable to work alone or with the team (including volunteers) to achieve goals and tasks.
• Pay starts at $15 per hour (pay increases dependent on experience and position hired) paid weekly.
• No health insurance or benefits available with this position
• Training for this position is available.
• Someone with experience in the field of animal care is preferred but not required.
