The CMC Process Development Summer Intern will support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies for oligonucleotide and antibody conjugation, supporting Arrowhead's Antibody-Oligonucleotide Conjugate (AOC) and oligo-bioconjugate programs. The intern will contribute to process understanding and optimization efforts aimed at improving manufacturing throughput and crude conjugate impurity profiles. This role provides exposure to cutting-edge bioconjugation technologies, analytical techniques, and collaborative process development in an industrial setting.
This is an 11-week Summer Internship Program paying $21.00 per hour and requires full-time, onsite work five days per week at the designated location.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with CMC Process Development team members to execute experiments using flow chemistry systems and tangential flow filtration (TFF).
* Support process development efforts for AOC programs and oligo-bioconjugates formed off resin.
* Perform analytical characterization of oligonucleotide and antibody intermediates and conjugates using standard HPLC and mass spectrometry (MS).
* Characterize and identify process- and product-related impurities.
* Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation of experimental procedures and results.
* Discuss experimental outcomes with team members and contribute to data interpretation.
* Manage time effectively to meet project milestones and internship goals.
Requirements
* Currently enrolled student at an accredited university or college, sophomore level or higher focused in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
* Completion of at least one organic chemistry course.
* Interest in learning and applying a variety of laboratory instrumentation and techniques.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting in group settings.
* Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
* Willingness and ability to spend 75% of the workday in walking around the facility and 25% at a desk
* Ability to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred
* Prior exposure to HPLC techniques.
* Previous academic or industry research experience.
* Experience working with macromolecules such as oligonucleotides or proteins.
