Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs highly automated production equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role focuses on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including three-phase motors, conveyors, presses, PLCs, and industrial robots. The technician performs both reactive and preventive maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and uptime on a night shift schedule.
Responsibilities- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production equipment, including three-phase motors, conveyors, presses, pumps, and ovens.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 277V, 120V AC and 24V DC systems to quickly identify and resolve faults.
- Test 12V and 24V DC controls and 480V AC systems using appropriate tools and methods to verify proper operation.
- Troubleshoot PLCs and robotics systems, including ladder logic issues and faults on automated equipment with Fanuc and ABB robots.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams to diagnose and repair equipment problems.
- Carry out daily preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on production equipment when not responding to breakdowns, ensuring optimal performance and reducing downtime.
- Repair and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, and related components.
- Perform general maintenance duties across the facility to support continuous production and equipment reliability.
- Assist with project work that may include welding (mig) and conduit bending to support equipment installation, modification, or improvement.
- Work effectively within a highly automated, fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment where timely product output is critical.
- Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment, particularly in hot areas and zones requiring cut-proof, long sleeve jackets.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to communicate equipment status, share technical information, and support smooth operations.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support maintenance planning and equipment history tracking.
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred, ideally supported by an associate's degree in a related technical field.
- Entry-level candidates may be considered if they hold a relevant degree; candidates without a degree should have approximately 10 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Multi-skilled background with strong electrical experience (including 480V), mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 277V, 120V AC and 12V/24V DC controls.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting production equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to test and verify operation of DC controls and AC power systems safely and accurately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for working with conveyors, presses, pumps, ovens, and related machinery.
- Capability to work night shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule (6 PM–6 AM) and manage the demands of a highly automated, time-sensitive production environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to performing thorough preventive maintenance and accurate documentation.
Skills & Qualifications
- PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic knowledge are considered a strong plus, especially for work with automated systems and robotics.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining robotics systems, particularly Fanuc and ABB robots, is highly beneficial.
- Welding (mig) skills are a plus for project work such as equipment modifications, repairs, and installations.
- Conduit bending experience is an advantage for electrical installation and modification projects.
- Background in automotive manufacturing or other highly automated production environments is helpful.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a setting where timely product output is critical and can be stressful.
