By joining our Project Delivery and Preservation Branch I as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Woodford County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to become specialized in road, construction, maintenance and operations.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Haul materials to and from job sites
Operate dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months
Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting
Operate equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, or wood chippers
Flag for operations requiring traffic control.

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates
Experience in equipment operation for road maintenance
Experience preforming preventative maintenance on vehicles or equipment
Experience with general labor or trades

Additional position information:

Be able to lift 50 pounds, work on rough terrain, around various types of equipment, be able to twist, bend,stoop, stand. Should be able to work extended hours and in all weather elements.

Conditions

Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather.
