A cutting-edge advanced manufacturing organization in the Greater Madison area is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support the design, development, construction, and commissioning of complex control systems within a highly regulated production environment.
This is a high-ownership engineering role working cross-functionally with Electrical, Process, Mechanical, and Structural teams to build and optimize mission-critical systems. What You Will Own- Design and develop PLC‑ and HMI‑based control systems for process and facility systems
- Generate and review P&IDs, control narratives, loop diagrams, and I/O lists
- Support system integration across automation, safety, and monitoring platforms
- Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and system validation activities
- Troubleshoot instrumentation, control panels, and field devices
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors during installation and startup
- Support documentation and compliance in a regulated environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or similar
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and process automation
- Experience in regulated or complex industrial environments such as pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical, power generation, food & beverage, oil & gas, or advanced manufacturing
- Ability to work on‑site in a fast‑paced, cross‑disciplinary engineering setting
- Comfortable moving between system design and hands‑on troubleshooting
This is not a maintenance‑only position.
You will contribute to building and optimizing advanced process systems from the ground up. The engineering challenges are real, the standards are high, and the systems you help design will operate in a tightly controlled, performance‑driven environment.
