SOL Engineering Services, LLC is searching for a Quality Assurance Inspector II to independently inspect a wide variety of standardized items or operations requiring a substantial knowledge of the method and techniques of construction inspection, methods, equipment and material practices, and the ability to interpret varied requirements in drawings and specifications. The Inspector will obtain information on schedules and work methods, explain requirements of plans and specifications, and make suggestions to the contractor on well‑established acceptable methods and practices.
The Inspector is not authorized to approve deviations in construction plans, methods and practices, even of a minor nature or when there is a change in cost.
- Interprets plans and specifications relating to construction problems of normal difficulty for which there are precedents
- Resolves differences between plans and specifications that do not involve questions of cost or engineering design
- Provides authorization to approve minor deviations in construction methods and practices without cost change
- Provides final decisions on construction methods and practices, workmanship, materials, and the finished product
- Inspection reports are reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and adequacy
- Has working knowledge of construction industry codes relating to the area of expertise (e.g., ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.)
- Must have working knowledge of various crafts and their associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques
- Certifications from AWS, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, API, etc. may be required for certain positions
- Associate degree in engineering technology or science plus two years’ experience in a related construction field
- Associate degree graduate must have a minimum of one year in a QA/QC position and one year of construction experience
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED) plus four years of experience in a related construction field
- High school graduate must have at least two years in a QA/QC position and two years of construction experience
- Ability to work outside and inside
- Minimum travel with overnight stays when working on off‑site projects
