Job Description SummaryThe Breader/Batter Operator is responsible for preparing,operating, andmonitoringbreading and batter application systems to ensure fresh product is coated accurately, consistently, andin accordance with quality, food safety, and production standards. This position plays a critical role in product appearance, yield, and food safety while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures in a fresh food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and operate batter and breading equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Mix, handle, and monitor batter and breading materials to ensure proper consistency and application
- Ensure accurate and uniform coating of fresh product to meet quality and yield specifications
- Monitor product flow through batter and breading systems to prevent buildup, clumping, or downtime
- Make minor adjustments to equipment settings to maintain optimal performance
- Monitor product for quality defects and report issues immediately
- Verify ingredient usage, lot codes, and specifications as required
- Maintain proper levels of batter and breading materials throughout the shift
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks during and after production
- Complete required production, quality, and ingredient usage documentation accurately
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and allergen control procedures
- Comply with OSHA regulations and Tyson safety policies
- Work closely with Production, QA, and Sanitation teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
Work directly with raw and fresh products Adhere to strict food safety, sanitation, allergen control, and contamination prevention standards Wear required PPE, including gloves, aprons, hairnets, and protective footwear Work in temperature-controlled environments with exposure to moisture and food ingredients
Education and Experience RequirementsEducation: High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience: Prior food production, ingredient handling, or machine operation experience preferred Experience with batter/breading systems a plus
Skills and Competencies- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn equipment operation
- Strong attention to detail, consistency, and quality
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic math and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to safety and food safety standards
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to lift and handle ingredient bags or containers as required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Ability to work in cold, wet, or humid conditions typical of a fresh plant
Must be available to work assigned shifts Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on production needs

This role is essential to ensuring consistent product quality, yield control, and safe production operations at the Vicksburg Plant.
