Company Description Vicksburg Forest Products is a lumber manufacturer specializing in Southern Yellow Pine products for a wide range of construction and decking applications. The company produces 2  lumber in 8'  10'  12'  14'  and 16' lengths, as well as 4x4 and 4x6 materials in the same dimensions. In addition, Vicksburg Forest Products manufactures 5/4x6 decking, serving both commercial and residential markets.

Team members contribute directly to providing consistent, reliable lumber products that meet industry standards and customer expectations.
Role Description The Dry End Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role located in Vicksburg, MS, responsible for overseeing all dry end operations in the mill, including drying, sorting, and finishing lumber products. This role manages daily production activities, monitors equipment performance, and ensures that quality, safety, and throughput targets are consistently met. The Dry End Superintendent leads and schedules dry end team members, provides training and coaching, and promotes safe work practices and adherence to company policies.

Typical tasks include troubleshooting operational issues, coordinating maintenance with relevant teams, optimizing processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency, and maintaining accurate production and inventory records. The role also collaborates with other departments to meet delivery commitments and support continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Qualifications

  • Experience supervising production or mill operations, preferably in lumber manufacturing or a related industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of kiln drying, grading, sorting, and finishing processes for Southern Yellow Pine or similar lumber products.
  • Strong leadership skills, including team scheduling, performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to interpret production data, monitor KPIs, and use basic computer systems for reporting and documentation.
  • Commitment to safety, with experience implementing and enforcing safety policies and conducting safety training.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues under time constraints.
  • Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, quality, and logistics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in wood products, manufacturing, or industrial technology is beneficial.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site in a mill environment, including standing, walking, and working in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Prior experience in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or process optimization is a plus.
