Lifeguard

Position Overview

The Lifeguard maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on the deck, and surrounding areas. Serving as a mentor and role model by creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes youth safety and engagement.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintains constant surveillance of the pool and the pool areas
  • Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures within pool and pool area
  • Responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with MCHS policies and procedures; provides timely and accurate reports and follow-ups.
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies health and safety rules, policies, guidelines for the pool and pool area.
  • Perform pool equipment checks and ensure availability of required equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to all policies and procedures for the program.
  • Reports applicable information, concerns, and schedule changes to the Program Director.
  • Additionally, organizes occasional recreational activities/duties when there is inclement weather/as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Must meet minimum age of 21.
  • Certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer; AED; and basic First Aid Certifications required.
  • Must be able to maintain physical and mental alertness while working with children and adolescents
