Overview
The Senior Long Term Planning Engineer is site based and covers the long term planning functional deliverables and work elements supporting the SSR Mining Cripple Creek and Victor Mine.
The position reports to the Mine Technical Services Manager. Core responsibilities include managing the long term planning team, delivering business planning, reserves and resources, supporting site based studies and projects, continuous improvement, and strategic resource development activities.
Responsibilities- Deliver reliable, timely, and well‑communicated long‑term mine planning results.
- Perform quality control of long‑term planning outputs relative to SSR Mining CC&V business needs.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across mine planning and other cross‑functional site teams.
- Identify and apply improvement opportunities and replicate best practices from other sites.
- Lead the production of Life of Asset mine and supporting facilities design, scheduling, and optimization.
- Create optimized Life of Asset scenario planning deliverables consistent with site and regional strategy.
- Provide technical risk and opportunity characterization for Life of Asset plans.
- Partner with the mine planning team and Technical Services Manager to produce a Life of Asset production plan that includes transparent risks and opportunities.
- Produce and manage site reserves and resources estimation and reporting.
- Develop long‑term planning talent under the guidance of the Regional Lead and SME/governance group.
- Provide leadership in support of health, safety, security, and S&ER programs.
- Generate timely and accurate long‑term planning work packages, including business plan physicals for +2 year to Life of Mine plan, supporting facilities design, infrastructure, and reclamation planning.
- Optimize pit, leach pad, and dump designs.
- Mentor engineers in long‑range mining engineering.
- Execute long‑term mine planning standards, procedures, guidelines, best practices, and improvement initiatives, incorporating safety considerations.
- Work with global SMEs and SRD group to adopt and test new long‑term planning processes and tools.
- Support site projects and studies and contribute to strategic continuous improvement and Strategic Resource Development work.
- Perform unit cost analysis with emphasis on fixed/variable costing, benchmarking, and optimization.
- Build and maintain trust and credibility with key stakeholders and site functional teams.
- Apply open‑pit and/or underground mining expertise to ensure deliverables are comprehensive and diversified.
- Collaborate with geological, geotechnical, metallurgical, geostatistical, and S&ER teams to align and inform key work package deliverables.
- B.Sc. in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in mine planning, optimization, operations, and strategic planning for diversified mine sites, preferably conventional hard‑rock gold operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence in a dynamic, multitasking environment.
- Experience supervising and leading Mine Engineering professional staff.
- Knowledge of mine methods, design, production scheduling, equipment selection, reserve estimation, maintenance, and expert systems.
- High competence in mine planning software, including optimization techniques, cash flow analysis, and mine design and scheduling packages.
- Detailed knowledge of unit costing methods for resource and reserve analysis, financial analysis, and financial models.
- Experience with Xeras cost estimating tool is a plus.
- Knowledge of exploration methods and resource estimation.
- Strong problem‑solving and 3‑D visualization skills.
- Relevant competency certificates—Professional Engineer and/or Qualified‑Competent Person status.
The role is based at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine in Teller County, Colorado, located at elevations from approximately 9,400 ft. to 10,600 ft. above sea level. Conditions vary with weather and elevation; physical capability and adaptability to high-altitude work are required.

Salary range for Colorado residents: $120,000 - $130,000.
