Regular Full-Time – Pay Grade 6 ($32.89 – $34.32/hour – 2024 Rates)

The Public Works Department is seeking a detail‑oriented professional to join its team as Yard Clerk. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the efficient delivery of essential public services by maintaining accurate records, supporting payroll and equipment tracking functions, preparing regular reports, and responding to inquiries from staff, contractors, and the public. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering organized, reliable support services.
The Yard Clerk performs clerical, secretarial, and reception responsibilities, providing secretarial and clerical support to the Superintendent, and general support services to the Public Works division in general. Reporting to a Manager, the incumbent performs general office duties, and provides specific reports on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The work of this position is performed within departmental guidelines and established procedures, with some independent analysis required.
A sound knowledge of office computer applications is required, including the use of spreadsheets and Vadim.
Our ideal candidate has graduated high school, has two years of experience in a similar office environment, has experience dealing with the public, and experience with busy telephone lines. Knowledge of Vadim is considered an asset. This position is represented by CUPE Local 374.
