This senior technical role at WSP involves driving complex projects that enhance protections for marine ecosystems throughout Canada’s coastlines. You'll design and lead innovative monitoring programs and influence critical decisions impacting marine species. Your experience will be pivotal in delivering scientific data that informs responsible growth in various sectors, including ports, energy, and coastal infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement marine mammal monitoring programs
• Lead aerial, vessel-based, and fixed-station surveys
• Serve as Technical Lead for environmental impact assessments
• Develop Environmental Protection Plans and mitigation strategies
• Mentor junior staff and enhance the marine science practice
Requirements:
• Graduate degree in marine biology or related field
• 10+ years in marine mammal research or monitoring
• Expertise in distance sampling and abundance modelling
• Experience with regulatory submissions and permits
• Professional biology designation, such as RPBio
Support marine sustainability through scientific leadership and collaborative project management with WSP.
