Purpose:
Assist teachers and campus staff in preparing and managing classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher or campus administrator to support student learning and promote a safe, productive classroom environment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
* High school diploma or GED
* Valid Texas educational aide certificate
* Meets ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) criteria by:
* Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
* Possession of an associate degree (or higher); or
* Successful completion of an approved paraprofessional assessment
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Ability to work well with children
* Ability to communicate effectively with students and adults
* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Experience:
* Experience working with children preferred
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
* Assist teacher/administrator in preparing instructional materials, classroom displays, and learning activities.
* Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
* Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
* Help maintain a neat, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
* Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of materials, supplies, and equipment.
* Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
* Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
* Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
* Perform other instructional support duties as assigned.
Student Management
* Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
* Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher according to established classroom rules and campus policies.
* Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
* Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance and enhance skills.
* Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Copier, personal computer, typewriter, audiovisual equipment, and other standard office or classroom equipment.
