Position: Transition Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (Victoria)

Position Overview

Transition Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (TVRC) Trainee – Sr TVRC in Victoria, TX (Job ).

Location:

120 S Main St, Ste 110, Victoria, TX. Requires Texas resident; sponsorship for visas not accepted.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality transition services to students with disabilities, including eligibility assessment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, businesses, employers and schools.
  • Collect and analyze information necessary to make an accurate eligibility decision (medical, psychological, school records, employment records, etc.).
  • Assist students in selecting appropriate employment by analyzing strengths, resources, priorities and matching to current job market.
  • Collaborate with local education agencies and families to support students in acquiring academic, work and life skills.
  • Collaborate with students to develop a plan of services toward employment goals.
  • Provide opportunities for students to explore career options and gain employment experiences.
  • Create and maintain student records and manage caseload.
  • Ensure timely, cost‑effective service provision and progress toward employment goals.
  • Develop and implement a process leading to successful job placement.
  • Develop referral sources and maintain resource information for blind or visually impaired students.
  • Build relationships with businesses to provide career exploration experiences.
  • Apply best‑value purchasing practices and use comparable benefits and services to ensure effective use of public funds.
  • Account for case service expenditures and delivery of services within funding directives.
  • May act as a team leader for assigned support staff for designated caseload.
  • Participate in training activities for staff development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling or related discipline plus one-year related work experience.
  • Or Master’s degree in related field (Special Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services) with one-year related work experience.
  • Or Master’s degree with any major plus two years related work experience.
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation with one-year related work experience.
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or Public Health with two years related work experience.
  • Or Bachelor’s degree with any major plus three years related work experience.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a field reasonably related to vocational rehabilitation (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology, disability studies, business administration, human resources, special education, etc.). No experience required.

Additional Requirements
  • Travel up to 75%. Employee responsible for transportation.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds.
  • All levels:
    Employment will be based on education, credentials, and previous experience; in accordance with career ladder requirements.
  • Applicants without a master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling, CRC or LPC must meet CSPD educational requirements within a specified timeframe.
